Seven Strategies For Controlling Energy Costs

Get the Most From Your Energy Dollars

Ginning can be challenging. Ginning profitably even more so, especially with today's rising energy prices. While we can't help you control the price of energy, we can help you control how much you use and how much you benefit from it. Check out these ideas which can save you tens of thousands of dollars every year by helping your gin become more energy efficient.

Shed Unneeded Fuel with

Simple Shed Technology

Often heaters are left idling, even when the cotton is dry enough to be ginned without additional heat.  This practice has been needed to protect against potential surprises in changing moisture.  A heater couldn't be turned up unless it was turned on...until now!  Simple Shed allows you to set up your heater to automatically turn off and on based on the conditions you specify.  One user reported over a 20% fuel savings under near identical conditions.

Use a Steamroller for Both

Efficiency and Performance

When it comes to restoring moisture to lint, you don't have to pick between efficiency and performance...you can have both!  The best performing moist air applicator is also the most energy efficient, getting more benefit for each unit of fuel input.  A Steamroller can also reduce energy use by your press, while speeding it up, by making the lint easier to press.

Use the power of

Moisture Tunnel Technology

We got some unexpected results when the new Humidaire models with Moisture Tunnel Technology were tested.  Sure, they set a new bar for Humidaire performance, but we also found they consumed less fuel doing it!  Evaporate more water using less fuel.

Get a Helping Hand From

a Moisture Mirror

Moisture Mirrors feature a user-friendly way to measure, monitor, and manage moisture.  Don't confuse Mirror technology with older devices.  The Mirror integrates directly with heater temperature controls, yielding fast response and greater confidence for ginning at lower temperatures.  Prices starting at $6,300 and a fast return on investment, make Mirrors affordable for gins of any size.

Eliminate

Horsepower and Increase

Bales Per Hour with a

Collider Drying System

Collider Drying Systems can have a huge positive impact on your bottom line, including helping you control energy costs.  Many times, converting to a Collider System can result in a significant drop in horsepower.  Saving 400 HP is not unusual!  Furthermore, energy costs and other variable costs such as labor can be reduced by increases in production.  Quite simply, if you gin more bales per week, the your energy and labor costs are spread out over more bales.

Electric Banjos Can Make

Your Fan's Hum with Efficiency

Drying system pull fans use more energy when you aren't ginning than when you are ginning.  You read that right!  Banjos can change that, optimizing your fan's energy use, giving you more air when you need it.  The actual energy used by your fans while cotton is flowing is higher with Banjos, but so is your production thanks to 30% more drying air.  This makes more efficient use of your energy dollars and can actually lower your per bale energy cost.
